Culture, Handicrafts and Ethnotourism

The Araucania Region is in the heart of Mapuche land. You can visit many different cultural exhibitions that are developed throughout the year such as art shows from local artists, children's Christmas choir or varied wooden handicrafts.
Among some of the well known handicrafts in Pucon are the wooden flowers that appear in incredible colors.
Another interesting attraction for foreigners is a visit to the Mapuche communities to get to know their rituals, customs and handicrafts.

Easy excursions

There are many day excursions that you can take by car. Photographic tours, visits to the Ojos de Caburgua or waterfalls such as the Salto El Leon or Puma, visit the Quelhue suspension bridge or Caburgua Lake and many others.Photographic tours outside Pucon are good alternatives to get to know the region and discover its fabulous colors and native forests.

The Chucao Steamboat,an antique that has been refurnished and refurbished from Valdivia is perfect for a peaceful tour around the Villarrica Lake.
Our area also has many beaches and it is possible to partake in almost every nautical sport imaginable.

Trancura River

This great river allows for adrenaline rushing descents in rafts or hydrospeeds through its rapids with varying levels: The High Trancura(grades 4-5) and the Lower Trancura (grades 2-3). As well, Pucon is a mecca for kayakers from around the world who come to kayak the Trancura, Palguin, Fuy and Maichin Rivers.

Hunting and Fishing

Pucon offers many types of sport fishing and fly fishing in rivers, lakes and lagoons. There are also companies that offer Wild Boar hunting, an attraction not only for the hunt itself but for the delicious meat.

All Terrain

• Mountain biking is a popular sport in the area. One of the most popular and beautiful routes is towards the north along the road that unites Caburgua with Pucon. Another is from Pucon along the Quelhue suspension bridge that takes you 45-60 minutes to complete 12km.
  
  
• Trekking is for those that like to keep their feet firmly planted on the ground. A good option is Huerquehue National Park. In between 8-10 hours you can trek through a beautiful native forest complete with Araucaria trees, lagoons, rivers and streams.
  You can observe ducks and woodpeckers and with luck animals such as fox or even see puma footprints. This is a special trip for those who enjoy virgin forest.
  
  
• In a 4x4 vehicle you can get to more remote areas like Reigolil, the Los Nevados sector or the road to Palquin or Conaripe.
  
  
• Horseback riding excursions are a great way to tour the countryside, admire the Araucaria trees, rivers and waterfalls, not to mention our national flower, the copihue.

Adrenaline
